The opposition is to be filed within 4 months of date of acceptance and objection to opposition must be files within 2 months. The opposition prevents registration of similar or identical trademark and protects the existing trademark. This challenge is usually based on the assertion that the trademark infringes on existing rights or could lead to consumer confusion.
